Research from the University of Toronto suggests that giving children daily fruit juice can lead to weight gain and should be avoided to combat childhood obesity. The study examined data from 46,000 children and found a correlation between more frequent fruit juice consumption and higher levels of fatness.
The researchers emphasised that fruit juice represents “liquid calories,” and parents should limit their children’s intake to prevent obesity and the development of an unhealthy preference for sweet flavours.
