Frankie made £100m insurance a deal-breaker

The champion jockey, 52, has a personal insurance policy worth £50m – but would only sign up after the show took out two extra policies. Both are with global insurance group Howden, which announced Frankie as an ambassador in April. The star, who has ridden more than 3,300 winning horses, had revealed plans to retire this year.

Frankie Dettori is the Lionel Messi of racing!

But he shocked fans last month by announcing he would stay in the saddle, racing in the US, Dubai and Saudi Arabia, where winning jockeys can earn more than £15m a race. He currently has an estimated £212m fortune – and is understood to have pocketed up to £1m to enter the jungle camp on Thursday night, as a late arrival alongside former boxer Tony Bellew. One source told us: “Frankie can earn huge sums by winning races in this country and the prize money is even higher abroad.

“But even a very small injury in the jungle, such as a damaged finger, could leave him unable to compete. He wants to throw himself into all of the trials that jungle bosses throw at him – he won’t be holding back while he’s in the camp.
