Health secretary criticised for ‘not tackling obesity’

Celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has criticised the health secretary, Victoria Atkins, due to the government’s inadequate efforts to manage the obesity crisis. Fearnley-Whittingstall accused ministers  of doing practically nothing concerning England’s obesity problem. His comments followed Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s decision to postpone major anti-obesity strategies until October 2025, despite growing evidence of escalating childhood obesity rates fueled by the pandemic.
