No accident, dog fine -Yes folks – that is about the size of it. Prince Andrew was photographed “stopping”in his Range Rover just in time to miss a dog which had run in front of the vehicle.

That’s it. That’s what qualifies as news these days. So, Netflix has just started screening Scoop, a drama based around his car-crash Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis in 2019 and that makes it relevant. The implication being that he was so distracted by the TV drama that he was unable to concentrate on driving.

Believe this if you like but it is hardly news. It is hardly a water cooler tale that people  will be talking about down the pub, is it?

Netflix will be very pleased with this publicity which coincides with the showing of Scoop which stars Billie Piper, Gillian Anderson, Keeley Hawes and Rufus Sewell as Andrew. We will be reviewing this at another time.

We are looking forward to it and reckon that with that acting line-up it would have to be pretty bad to go wrong but is this enough to justify a story which amounts to:

“No accident, dog fine” which is not exactly Pullitzer winning stuff. Congratulations to the Netflix PR department, but really?
