Royalty descended on Moss Side yesterday with the arrival of Prince William at The Millenium Powerhouse community centre. The Prince was keeping a promise he made to community leader Wendy Simms at a Buckingham Palace garden party she attended for his father’s coronation earlier this year.

The File overheard him greet Wendy with a hearty “I told you I would visit!” Wendy replied: “I remember!” It was all smiles as Prince William was shown around a number of community projects in Moss Side.

Once, in the eighties, in this area of Manchester,  it was fool-hardy to walk alone at night. But that is now a thing of the past with a great sense of community very apparent.
